    Chester Fairoaks Caravan Park

Another review by Lynn and Baz – our touring tornado team.

Though this is a Caravan Club park, it’s worth mentioning that it is open to non-members as well as members, and it is a fantastic park. On our travels up to North Wales we decided to stop a couple of nights to break the journey, so we booked in. WOW were we impressed! This is a must stay at site if you’re touring this area.

Chester Fairoaks Caravan Club Site is conveniently placed just off the M53 – gateway to North Wales, and close to the delightful and historic walled city of Chester.

We arrived an hour early but had no problem booking in, and we were told to just go and pick our own site. The sites are very good with a hard standing wide enough for car and caravan, yet still leaving some grass at the back and sides.

As per usual after setting up, we decided to have a walk round the site – checking out the facilities – toilets, showers, water, and waste. This site is impressive. It’s spotless showers and toilets are immaculate with everything on hand – water, waste, electric, etc. There is no on-site club or entertainment, but you won’t need it; there’s more than enough in the area to keep everybody happy.

Fairoaks Caravan Park is a couple of miles from Chester, but let me tell you, it is very convenient for everything in the area.
The bus stop for Chester is a 10 minute walk up a country lane, and just outside the camp site – turn right at the gates – there is a great pub/restaurant called the Rake.

Where the bus stop is there’s a BIG shopping complex with seemingly hundreds of shops and all the well known eating houses, plus a Sainsbury’s superstore for cheap petrol and stocking up on your food needs.

We spent the day in Chester which is a fantastic little town with plenty of history (a lot like York), a great shopping centre and plenty of restaurants. That night had a great time in the Rake pub before setting off for Wales the next day.

If you are travelling around, this site is excellent as a base for the area as you can tour from here to Manchester, Liverpool, and North Wales. Hey, and guess what? There’s even a zoo on your doorstep!

There are 100 pitches on the site, 85 of which are hard-standing. Tent pitches are available.

The caravan site is also close to a lovely canal walkway and local swimming pool. In Chester take in the sights while relaxing in an open top bus, or just wander around The Walls to absorb the colourful atmosphere. Immerse yourself in some history and tradition by seeing the town crier, the 900-year old Cathedral and the Roman Amphitheatre. Take a step back in history and just chill out!
